Prof. Carl H. Hahn - Vice Chairman
Professor Hahn started his professional career at the European Productivity Agency of the Organization for European Economic Cooperation (OEEC) in Paris 1953. After joining Volkswagen in 1954 he served the company in a variety of senior management positions, including Chief Executive Officer of Volkswagen of America (1959-64) and as a member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, Germany (1965-72). In 1973 he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Management of Continental Gummi-Werke AG, Hanover, a leading international rubber and tyre manufacturer. Ten years later he returned to Volkswagen as Chairman of the Board of Management, a position he held until December 1992.
Today, besides being Honorary Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Audi, Seat and Skoda, Hahn is Senior Advisor of General Capital Group Ltd., Munich. He is the recipient of numerous state decorations, international awards and honorary doctorates and of a professorship. In 2006 he was elected into the European Automotive Hall of Fame and in 2008 he was awarded Luminary in China Automotive Industry for his outstanding contributions to the development of China’s automotive industry.
